Interview with Sara Ronzero Vázquez, Head of Growth

Peers: What makes you excited about your job?
What I like most about my role is that I get to be in touch with a little bit of everything. I love to stay on top of what’s happening across different teams, that bird’s eye view allows me to be strategic, to cater to the needs of existing and potential customers, and to take into consideration the pain points of every stakeholder—internal and external.

As Head of Growth, I work with the Sales, Marketing, L&D, and Product teams, which enables me to more efficiently help shape processes that drive the product in the right direction.

Peers: If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would you choose and why?
I would love to learn data science. I love diving into data, I know how to read it, what metrics are relevant, and I love data storytelling, but it would be great to know more about the technical aspect of it. One of my 2022 goals is to do some data science courses, let’s see.

Outside the realm of work, I play electric bass, but it would be pretty sweet to be a lot better at it and jam to jazz like it’s no big deal.

Peers: If you could have dinner with a celebrity, who would you choose?
I would love to meet and crack some self-deprecating jokes with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator of Fleabag. I would also love to meet Karl Marx. I guess that I appreciate the fact despite his privilege, he still chose to try to find a way to improve the lives of the working class. And of course, I would love to go to a café in Paris and have a talk with Albert Camus. I just love debating and digging into existential topics, I think I could do that with any of these three people.

Peers: Do you have any productivity tips, especially when working from home?

Managing to accept that productivity is not consistent—and navigating those ups and downs—has been my biggest learning during these past two years of pandemic. In the context of home office, this was especially hard to cope with, since there’s a lot more room to procrastinate, which can bring out feelings of guilt. Another trick is not to think about work in days, but in weeks. Monday to Wednesday is generally very busy, I push myself a bit harder those days to make sure I progress in my projects. On Thursdays and on Fridays I am more open to whatever people may need.

Another thing that really works for me is having a to-do list. That sweet feeling of checking that little ASANA box after a completed task keeps me going. Nothing like a good dopamine kick to stay productive.

Peers: Which fictional family would you be part of?
100% the Weasleys. A caring mum, a quirky dad, and a bunch of siblings to play with. Chaotic but never boring.

Peers: What is your favorite vegetable?
Aubergine without a doubt. It’s so versatile. Roast it, fry it, grill it, stuff it. Also, I think I could eat baba ganoush all day every day without getting tired of it. In fact, I may already be doing that.
